Ski Lessons

Most ski resorts in Hakuba offer ski and snowboard lessons, but not always with English speaking instructors. For Certified and Qualified English Speaking Instructors, catering for all grades of skiiers and snowboarders, If you wish to pre-book, we can assist with your bookings upon arrival.

Ski Hire

There are a number of ski rental shops not far from our hotel at Goryu’s Escal Plaza. For good quality gear with friendly English speaking staff we recommend Spicy Rentals. From hats, gloves and goggles to boards, boots and skis Spicy has everything you could need at low competitive prices.

Luggage Courier

Planning on spending a few days sight-seeing  why not relieve yourself of all that heavy ski gear and drop your bags into a Black Cat courier service. Simply, locate their desk at Narita Airport and allow a 48 hour turnaround for your luggage. At approx. 3000yen per 50kg bag this is a cheap and reliable service….Just another plus to the Japanese ski experience!

To make this even easier please download from our website a printable pdf step by step instruction to be handed into Black Cat Courier Service explaining, in Japanese, where it is you wish your bags to be delivered to.

Day Trips / Festivals

Tired after a few days on the slopes what better way to recuperate than heading off on one of Hakuba’s locally run day tours. Visit the world famous snow monkeys as they placidly soak themselves in the piping hot onsen waters seemingly unaware of all the camera happy tourists sitting next to them  or, get a look in and around one of Japan’s ‘five gems’, Matsumoto Castle - one of a handful of Japanese castles to have never been damaged by fire.

If you’re fortunate enough to be in Hakuba for the 15th of January then the Nosawa Fire Festival tour is one of the best cultural experiences to be had in Japan. Quaff sake with the locals while huge makeshift timber castles are set ablaze in the age old Shinto Ceremony for prosperity.
